When did Tidal Poke’s Harborside location open?
In the fall of 2016, after a super successful pop-up launch at a Project Eats event.

What’s the Tidal Poke story?
Boris and I were inspired by a recent trip to Hawaii and wanted to bring island flavors to JC!

How did Jersey City locals first react to the new Hawaiian
spot in town?
They went crazy for it. Those who knew, knew. But for the most part, poke was new to a lot of people. Once they tried it, they were hooked. No pun intended.

What’s your favorite item on the menu (right now)?
My favorite menu item is the Hawaiian Style Ahi Tuna Bowl. It has a satisfying crunch with a nice umami flavor.

What’s the most popular order?
Our most popular items are the Hawaiian Style and Spicy Salmon bowls.

What is something people don’t know about Tidal Poke?
We use high-quality fresh fish ALWAYS. You will never find pre-cut, CO-treated super-frozen fish in our kitchen.

How would you describe being a part of the Jersey City business community?

Jersey City is a tight-knit neighborhood. It’s a great feeling to serve regulars who come almost every day and build relationships with them. We are always excited to bring new ideas to the area.

Does Tidal cater weddings, parties, corporate events?
Yes, we have done weddings and bar mitzvahs, and we do corporate lunches and events almost every day in JC and NYC. We even do a backyard luau during the summertime.

Any big plans for 2020?
The Harborside Food Hall opening was one; we’re currently working on expanding to a few new locations.
